Degrees of separation

So Sarah called me downstairs this morning to show me something on the television. She was watching one of the fashion channels over breakfast and a girl she went to school with in Thailand came on. Turns out she’s a model now. Not only that but she was the 1996 Thai Miss World entry. It’s a small world.

That got me thinking. It means that I have two degrees of separation from a Miss World entrant. Not only that but I suppose technically I am three degrees away from a Miss World winner (unless in 1996 they were all deemed too ugly to win).

Who else am I linked to? Well, I am two degrees away from Katie Melua and Sir Cliff Richard thanks to Tom’s brother who tours with them. That’s not bad. I’m also just a single degree of separation from a famous radio presenter, she knows who she is.

I seem to remember that Ben mentioned he was friends with the son of the manager of the band Big Country so that puts me four degrees away from them. That’s a bit weak but still counts.

So this is what I’m asking: Who is the most famous person you are linked to by the fewest degrees of separation?

OK. David (or me) and Nelson Mandela - 7 degrees! David's Mum's friend's ex-boyfriend is Diz Disley who toured with Stephane Grapelli who played with Paul Simon who did an album with Ladysmith Black Mambazo who sang at the inauguration of Nelson Mandela. OK?

Chore Wars
Chore wars is possibly the greatest and nerdiest concept I have heard of in a very very long time. In effect this is a chore or domestic task management tool that awards you Experience points for each task you complete. Giving your nerd a real chance to see how he is levelling up in those bathroom cleaning skills. Im tempted. I really really am. Debbie, see if you can get Brian addicted to this instead of WoW!
